How to buy prints

Types available

You can order any of these images to be printed at exactly the size you want, large or small. Most of them will bear considerable enlargement without loss of quality – we’ll advise you if there is likely to be any problem printing at the size you’ve requested.

We make the prints on a large-format professional digital printer, an Epson Stylus Pro 7600, which can make prints up to 60 cm (24 inches) wide. It produces richly coloured prints that are extremely light-fast, giving them a much longer life than that of traditional colour prints.

We keep a range of papers and boards in stock, so we can produce your print on:

  • glossy photo paper
  • textured heavyweight matte fine-art paper
  • smooth matte paper
  • poster board

We’ve also designed a set of attractive greetings cards using some of the images. We print these on a fine-quality heavyweight card stock and will be offering a selection of them for sale, with envelopes, at £1.50 each.

How to order

If you order a print at our Open Studio event and we’re not busy, we can make it for you while you wait. Otherwise, we should be able to make the print in a few days at most, and are willing to deliver to addresses within five miles of Cambridge at no charge. If you can’t get to the event, please contact us to discuss your order.

Prints from your own work

When preparing for our last Open Studio, we invested in a large-format professional digital printer; we’ve also spent a lot of time studying colour reproduction theory and practice, which means that we can produce very accurate, calibrated colour output. Everyone who has seen our prints has been absolutely delighted with the quality.

Since then we’ve been providing a printing service, on a small scale, to other local artists and photographers. This year we’ve decided to advertise a little more widely, and we’d be very pleased to hear from you if you’re interested in getting prints made from your art work or photographs.

The printer is an Epson Stylus Pro 7600, which uses special inks that have a very wide colour gamut, giving bright, glowing colours, and are extremely resistant to fading (we’ve had some unprotected prints up on the wall in full sunlight – not recommended, but we wanted to see what would happen – for a year or more, and they look as good as new). It can take a roll of paper 60 cm wide, so the maximum size for a conventional rectangular print is A1, but we can also produce very long strips 60 cm wide – the longest print we have done so far is 5 metres. We can print onto specially-treated board as well, producing a result that you can hang on the wall without framing.

To give you an idea of prices, here are some sample rates.

We are very happy to spend time with you discussing your individual requirements – how to get a good photograph of your art work for printing, and what kind of print would work best. We can also quote prices individually for the exact size of print you want, and we can offer discounts for multiple copies.

Please contact us if you are interested in any of this.
