Nice big bedWe can’t really get comfortable in a standard double bed, let alone the four-foot “double” beds that you find on most narrowboats. So Zinfandel has a king-size bed in the rear cabin. Because the bed occupies most of the width of the cabin, it has been designed with a folding section. When this section is folded away, what’s left is a four-foot bed (you can use it like that if you prefer to) with space to walk through the cabin beside it. |
Central heatingWinter cruising on Zinfandel is perfectly practical, as the boat is fitted with a diesel-powered central heating system, with radiators throughout. The system is fully controllable, with a timer and thermostatic radiator valves. |
Shower and toiletThere is a good, quite powerful hot shower available on board – water is heated by the engine and the tank is lagged, so you can still have a hot shower the morning after a day’s cruising. Zinfandel is also fitted with an electrically-powered macerator toilet with fresh-water flush – very similar to a normal domestic toilet on dry land. This has a large holding tank with a depth gauge, so a pump-out is usually only required once every week or so. If you’re hiring Zinfandel for a normal length of holiday, you are very unlikely to need one. |
Audio and videoZinfandel has a dual-function analogue and digital radio with a CD player. There are six loudspeakers. Two of them are in the bedroom and you can switch these off if you only want audio in the saloon. There is also a television with a DVD player and a digital set-top box. |
